Hypnosis allows you to re-program your subconscious mind to adopt healthier eating habits. During hypnosis you will be in a state of complete relaxation. In this state, the hypnotherapist can make suggestions that you will be more full and satisfied on less food. She may suggest that you will enjoy natural foods more than ever before, that you’ll feel better when you exercise, that you’ll start drinking more water, or develop a variety of good habits.
The hypnotherapist will discuss what suggestions will work best for each person in his/her particular situation. These suggestions are designed to go deep into the subconscious mind where they can influence the person’s behavior.
Many times people eat when they are not hungry, to satisfy an underlying emotional need. Hypnotherapy can help by discovering what this emotional need is. The subconscious mind knows the reasons why someone overeats. Perhaps one feels that he/she needs to be heavier to feel safe. Perhaps this person feels that heavier people are more loving than thin people and he/she wants to be a loving person. These ideas may have been planted in the subconscious when the person was a small child. These ideas are not available to the conscious mind where they could be evaluated and corrected. In hypnosis, one can discover these thoughts, and with the help of the hypnotherapist, change them to healthier, more sensible thoughts and ideas about food, eating and weight.
